For five years I copyedited the jazz magazine Smooth Jazz News, published in San Diego and distributed to many venues in San Diego County as well as regionally at jazz festivals. It was also distributed nationally to smooth jazz radio stations and available for subscription. During the years I copyedited, from December 2005 - April 2010, it was published 11 times a year.
The best part about this gig was getting invited to the Christmas party thrown by publisher Melanie Maxwell at Spaghettini in Seal Beach, where the brunch buffet and neverending mimosas mixed with jazz performances by Nils, DW3, Greg Adams, David Garfield, Shilts, and Steve Oliver, among others. Good times.
In the cover below you can see that "22nd" is highlighted — my annotation in the PDF says, "Verify this is correct, as although Thornton web site says 22nd, JazzConcerts.com says 21st." Ahh, the glamorous life of a copyeditor.
